Promoting Divvun

Jovsset talked to John Marcus about our leaflet. The main points were:

  • this is more a user manual than an ad - reduce the project description
  • separate user manual from advertising
  • more Tour de Divvuns - direct marketing, users and IT administrators
  • question form to the municipalities to research whether our tools are used, and how much

The integration can/should be done by Polderland, which is an official MS subcontractor/integrator. Infrastructure

To accomodate future enhancements in different directions (in rough order of importance):

  1. test bench for all parts of our language technology efforts

Linda and Lene are looking at smj , and found several issues:

  • names misclassified (especially Bible names)
  • The Der1 / Der2 distribution of the suffixes for smj is not quite good.
  • identical analysis for things that are not identical (especially derivations)

From the meeting with the terminology and IT teams last week:

This means the following tasks:

OpenXSpell

Working everywhere (almost) in MacOS X applications, provides Sámi spell checking system-wide through a hunspell back-end. OpenXSPell

There are two issues:

  • asking for suggestions on words witn non-ASCII chars crashes OpenXSpell

Text to speech

Antti has hinted at the possibility of doing beta versions of other languages as well. We are thus now recording Greenlandic sentences.
